Software Engineer, AI Platform Development

Requirements Must have:

• Strong programming and data engineering proficiency, particularly in open source and distributed frameworks (AWS, Spark, Flink, Iceberg, Dynamo
  
  DB)
• Knowledge of cloud-based data solutions (e.g., AWS, RDS, Dynamo
  
  DB), container orchestration (e.g., EKS, Docker), and data streaming technologies (Flink, Spark streaming, CDC)
• Solid quantitative and engineering capabilities with experience in performance estimation at a large scale
• Proven track record in supporting multiple ML/AI engineering teams to develop scalable architectures that enhance R&D for cutting-edge models and AI solutions
• Background in refining LLM responses and establishing comprehensive evaluation frameworks for performance analysis
• Highly self-driven with a strong sense of ownership over systems and design decisions
• Over 5 years of experience in the realm of distributed systems or AI infrastructure

• Work collaboratively with AI Product, Applied ML, Post-Training, and Data Science teams to design, develop, and sustain scalable data pipelines and data lakes – Build high-performance infrastructure that supports personalization features, including memory, discovery, and agent-driven products – Create a scalable, multi-modal evaluation platform for all Perplexity AI offerings, such as personalization, pro search, labs, deep research, and Comet – Design tools and abstractions on foundational infrastructure to improve personalization, analytics, recommendations, AI solutions, and post-training capabilities – Enhance the engineering foundation to accommodate the rapid expansion of Perplexity products and our global user base
