Scrum Master

Overview

Location – SFO, CA / Salt Lake City, UT - Onsite

Duration: 12+ months contract (with potential for extension)

Responsibilities center on leading and coaching an Agile team through ceremonies and ensuring effective delivery of sprint and program increment goals.

• Facilitates and is accountable for leading the team through the agile ceremonies, including daily scrums, sprint planning, and PI planning.
• Guides the team to follow Agile/Scrum practices and daily activities to actively promote prioritization, team readiness, and commitment for each Sprint and Program Increment.
• Coaches the team to address any issues with the Agile/Scrum process. Instills an Inspect & Adapt culture within the team.
• Proactively removes impediments to team agility and guides the team on methods to escalate when needed to prevent challenges from becoming blockers.
• Protects the team from disturbances and conflicting priorities.
• Manages team workload, coordinates with managers or Product Management when needed to negotiate time.
• Manages dependencies across other Agile teams, regularly working with other Scrum Masters and Program Manager/RTE.
• Works closely with the Product Owner, Product Analysts, and Solutions Lead in ensuring sprints are healthy and work is effectively delivered by the team.
• Owns the Jira project and handles the management of all issues in Jira for the team. Uses metrics in Jira, including burnup/down charts, release burndowns, and team velocity to assess team health and identify improvement opportunities. Tracks team and team-members capacity based on tangible metrics.

• 1 year’s minimum experience as a Scrum Master in an IT or software development setting
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field or equivalent work experience
• Proficiency using Jira (managing scrum boards and generating metrics)
• Demonstrated ability to coach individuals in a scrum team
• Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills for the purpose of explaining technical and project related information to stakeholders.
• Proven ability to balance competing priorities
• Requires PMI-ACP, CSM, or equivalent certification

• Scrum master-focused background
• Some experience with execution/delivery of customer releases/product features (i.e. project management)
