About the Role
Ads is one of the fastest growing lines of businesses ry day thousands of advertisers use our platform to reach users on Uber to help grow their businesses. The Uber Ads & Offers team builds consumer products that connect our eaters and riders to relevant businesses in engaging and delightful ways. We also build tools to help merchants, large and small, generate demand via Ads and Offers to grow their businesses.
As a scientist on the Mobility ads and offers team, you will guide how ads are integrated across the entirety of the Uber Rides app. You will be a thought partner for a wide breadth of topics ranging from optimization of existing ad formats to development of entirely new ones to interactions between ads and non-ad products. This is a highly visible, cross-functional role where you ll combine technical expertise with product intuition to shape the Mobility ads and offers space, one of the fastest growing pillars within Uber ads.
WhatYou ll Do
Drive product strategy with data:
Act as a strategic partner to product, engineering, and design partners, using data to influence the roadmap and guide decisions for critical features and future innovation.
Lead complex analytical initiatives:
Own and execute end-to-end analyses on large-scale, complex datasets to generate foundational insights on advertiser value and rider behavior.
Innovate in a new space:
Proactively identify and investigate complex, open-ended questions using a myriad of techniques (funnel analysis, experimentation, causal inference, modeling), delivering actionable recommendations that drive significant business value.
Champion data-informed decision-making:
Define and evangelize best practices for measurement, statistical rigor, and data-driven problem-solving.
Bachelor s degree in Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field.
Mininum 2 years of relevant industry experience as a Data Scientist, Applied Scientist, or equivalent (not required with Ph.D).
Proficiency in SQL and a programming language like Python or R for exploratory data analysis and modeling.
Strong understanding of experimental design and analysis and causal inference.
Good business and product sense, with experience extracting user behavior insights from large datasets.
M.S. or Ph.D. in Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field
Prior experience working on Ads
Prior experience in causal inference, A/B testing, and other advanced analytical methods
Track record of successfully influencing product strategy and driving business outcomes through data on a consumer app
For New York, NY-based roles:
The base salary range for this role is USD $155,000 per year - USD $172,000 per year. For San Francisco, CA-based roles:
The base salary range for this role is USD $155,000 per year - USD $172,000 per year. For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber s bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
