About the RoleMachine Learning is a critical part of Nextdoor’s product, powering personalization across the newsfeed, notifications, ads, search, and trust. In this role you will help build data‑intensive products and collaborate closely with product and data science teams.
Responsibilities- Build and iterate ML‑driven products to foster creativity, discovery, and engagement.
- Develop personalized content and recommendation systems used by millions of users.
- Run and analyze live, user‑facing experiments to iterate on model quality.
- Collaborate with engineers and data scientists to create optimal user experiences on the platform.
- Participate in in‑person events such as trainings, off‑sites, volunteer days, and team‑building exercises.
- Build relationships with team members and contribute to the company culture.
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Applied Math, Statistics, or related field, graduating Dec 2025 or May–June 202יר6.
- Deep understanding of machine learning concepts such as deep learning and recommender systems.
- Internship experience in machine learning engineering in a related field (e.g., social networking, e‑commerce).
- Strong programming skills in Python or Java.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Passion for Nextdoor’s mission and purpose.
- Bonus:
Industry experience applying machine learning at scale. - Eagerness to explore AI and emerging technologies.
Starting salary is $150,000–$175,000 annual, variable by skills, experience, and qualifications. The role also includes quarterly‑vested equity with the first vest date within the first 3 months of hire.
