Data Systems Analyst 4 – UCSF Health

Having significant experience, applies advanced data / information management concepts and campus / medical center / OP objectives to resolve highly complex issues where analyses of situations, information or data require an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Selects methods and techniques to obtain desired results.

• Provides integrated reporting and analytical capabilities across UCSF Health
• Maintains and supports the AllScripts EPSi financial system
• Ensures data security, system maintenance, and seamless information flow from multiple source systems

• Enterprise-grade integrated data platform combining internal and external data sources
• Built on hybrid Inmon/Kimball architecture using MS SQL Server
• Utilizes SSIS for ETL processes and SQL Agent for automated scheduling

• Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
• At least fifteen years of experience in a Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence environment. Previous experience in healthcare.
• Familiarity with:
  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • General ledger systems
  • EPSi
  • Tableau, PowerBI
• This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
• Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and supporting database applications.
• Thorough working knowledge of testing practices and application debugging, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Ability to identify, assess impact, and develop recovery strategies for application or system failures.
• Demonstrated ability to identify and implement critical maintenance fixes and to isolate and correct malfunctions, including interface problems.
• Demonstrated ability to research, evaluate, and implement new technologies and software.
• Ability to use creative problem-solving skills and apply effective technical solutions.
• Working knowledge of Relational Database design and data modeling skills.
• Working knowledge of the Kimball Data Warehouse Dimensional Model.
• Working knowledge of the Inmon Data Warehouse Model.
• Advanced working knowledge of SQL Server's T-SQL language.
• Ability to work in an Agile environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work with technical and non-technical staff to identify user requirements and translate them into technology-based solutions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare and deliver formal and informal documentation, presentations, and training to a variety of end users.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set own priorities to coordinate multiple assignments with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines.
• Ability to foster and maintain positive and professional working relationships.
• Ability to effectively handle interpersonal interactions at all levels and respond appropriately to conflicts and problems.
• Must be flexible and have a positive attitude, and a sense of humor is highly desirable.

• Degree in computer science or related field.
• Working knowledge of:
  • Windows authentication and other security protocols
  • MS Windows Server
  • Oracle DBMS
  • EPIC Hyperspace
  • EPIC data model
  • MS Team Foundation
• Familiarity with Bl tools such Tableau or SSRS.
