Benefits Analyst (Contract)
Location:
San Francisco, CA 94107 (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday onsite)

- Be the first point of contact for benefits escalations to the appropriate benefits COE or Rewards Ops team member. Monitor cases and channels (e.g. Slack: Benefits-talk, Service Now tickets tier 3 tickets, bswift, ERC, webinar chat), observe and report on trending issues, research specific concerns and resolve working with employee, vendors and COE as needed.
- Provide information to explain benefits and changes to employees and answer employee queries about benefits policies ad hoc and during benefit meetings, benefit fairs, as needed. May include updating healthcare content in call center training decks and FAQs.
- Bswift administration:
Review and update Open Enrollment requirements to include updating text and plan details and testing the bswift enrollment tool and Emma for annual Open Enrollment readiness. Perform final test OE site after benefit administrator vendor and Rewards Ops sign off to confirm enrollment flows, content and rates. - Communications content review:
Open Enrollment/EOY video library, PDFs (e.g. Rewards Guide R1), OE website content, October OE updates and end of year updates. And ad‑hoc and midyear work on health care content review, birthday cards, vendor custom communications and mailers and vendor microsite reviews. - Events support:
Liaise with internal and external teams on healthcare events, including calendaring and fulfillment. Confirm healthcare vendors OE fair and pop‑up attendance and signage. Support programmatic webinars by coordinating scheduling and promotion and reviewing of supporting collateral (decks, flyers, posters, FAQs, tip sheets, etc. R1) as needed.
- Review SBCs, plan booklets, schedule of benefits and other compliance documents and coordinate with program managers to support any compliance implementation and posting.
- Support legislative requirements such as healthcare transparency, mental health parity (reviewing documents, posting mandatory employee notifications, tracking, scheduling).
- Contribute to compliance administration such as non‑discrimination testing, PCORI fees, SFHCSO liabilities, etc.
- Project manage and track annual compliance notices (e.g., SAR, Medicare, HIPAA) and aggregate notices for employee notification by annual deadlines.
- In partnership with Sr. program managers, help drive or support various special projects such as RFP, implementation of new benefits vendors or programs, and or acquisition support.
- Support survey submissions (e.g. SVEF benchmark survey, Corporate Equality Index CEI).
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) creation and maintenance:
Assist in documenting regular routine business processes, as well as testing already documented procedures. Assist with creating an inventory archive of all routine BAU tasks for the program managers.
Skills & Qualifications
- 4 years+ of directly applicable US benefits administration experience; LOA administration a plus.
- Knowledge of Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) regulations, and other applicable federal, state, and local laws governing benefits.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team to meet common goals.
- Demonstrate analytical and problem‑solving capabilities to manage escalations and help Sr. program managers identify root causes of issues.
- Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders such as Employee Resource Center (ERC), payroll, communications, and vendors.
- Demonstrate desire to grow and learn new things, have a willingness to roll up the sleeves to help out.
- Ideally has a great balance of having fun while getting the job done.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field. Required education may be substituted by additional years of experience. If no degree, 8 years experience required.
- Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) professional certification, a plus.
- $49.30 per hour.
