Role Summary
Director, Global Clinical Supply Chain is an end-to-end clinical supply planning leader in a fast-paced biopharmaceutical environment. The role partners across Global Supply Chain and other Gilead functions to develop supply chain strategies, meet project deliverables, and optimize the management of clinical supplies from protocol design through manufacturing to distribution and inventory at clinical sites worldwide. Requires expert knowledge of clinical supply chain best practices in a GxP environment and strong cross-functional, multicultural communication.
Responsibilities- Serves as the clinical supply lead on PDM sub-teams for complex development programs
- Leads development and execution of overall clinical supply strategy and management for clinical development programs, including IMP management for global trials
- Oversees and supports clinical study planners in a matrix environment; facilitates issue and risk identification, mitigation, resolution, and communication
- Drives cross-functional decision-making to support long-term vision
- Identifies, manages, and mitigates supply risks at the program level; leads process improvements and organizational changes
- Authors and maintains SOPs, work instructions, and business policies
- Accounts for clinical supply budget for assigned programs
- Reviews and approves statements of work, purchase orders, and invoices
- Influences program allocations with partners and CMOs
- Leads or contributes to strategic initiatives within GCSC, GSC, or PDM including due diligence, M&A integration, and external advocacy alignment
- Coordinates with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Contract Administration; interfaces with regulatory agencies as required
- Develops new applications for the department based on professional principles and theories
- Monitors cost, schedules, and performance of major contracts
- Minimum
Education & Experience:
12+ years in a related field with a BS/BA; or 10+ years with MA/MBA; or 8+ years with PhD - Strong experience in clinical supply planning within a multinational biopharmaceutical environment
- Ability to develop complex concepts, techniques, and standards
- Capability to create solutions to complex problems requiring ingenuity and creativity
- Ability to operate in a dynamic, global environment and influence across functions
- Understanding of financial aspects of supply chain operations
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA/MA/PhD) preferred depending on experience
