Job Summary
Under supervision of the Administrative Director and guided by policies and procedures of Ambulatory Services, the Medical Assistant assists in the delivery of care to patients in UCSF Cardiovascular Care and Prevention Center Practice. General responsibilities include managing patient flow in the practice from check-in through the rooming process and check-out, obtaining vital signs, reviewing health maintenance status, maintaining and stocking exam rooms, and assisting in emergencies.
The Medical Assistant III also supports general administrative functions at reception including scheduling, referral management and other duties as required. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills with patients and staff. The Medical Assistant must be able to competently work in an advanced Electronic Health Record environment. The Medical Assistant is required to comply with the Medical Center House and Telephone Standards.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $32.86 - $41.01 (Hourly Rate).

Responsibilities- Manage patient flow in the practice from check-in through check-out, including rooming and vitals collection
- Review health maintenance status and maintain, stock, and prepare exam rooms
- Assist in emergencies as needed
- Support reception and general administrative functions including scheduling and referral management
- Provide excellent customer service to patients and staff
- Work competently in an advanced Electronic Health Record environment
- Compliance with Medical Center House and Telephone Standards
- Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
- Certification from an approved Medical Assistant program; or equivalent training and experience; at least 6 months Cardiology Medical Assisting experience
- Strong computer and basic keyboarding skills
- Ability to prioritize and work efficiently with multiple forms of patient and provider communication
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
- Strong writing skills for composing basic office communications
- Ability to deal sensitively with patients and communicate effectively with team and referring physicians
- Demonstrated attendance record; professional appearance and demeanor
- Non-smoker
- Bilingual
- American Heart Association BLS – CPR Certified
