Role Description

Under direction, the 2932 Senior Behavioral Health Clinician performs essential duties including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Supervises one or more staff by preparing and maintaining work schedules, performance appraisals; coordinating activities of a multidisciplinary team; and monitoring staff productivity.
  • Supervises psychosocial assessment of clients for behavioral health services; ensures appropriate referrals; reviews intake procedures; and prepares care summaries to coordinate care.
  • Performs clinical evaluations in difficult cases, including interviewing, diagnosing, and disposition; may refer to other staff or disciplines for further treatment.
  • Performs regular and effective treatment in complex cases using intensive casework and psychotherapy techniques; observes conditions and determines safety concerns.
  • May conduct group psychotherapy and case management; sets treatment goals and monitors progress.
  • Charts and ensures staff charting of medical records according to standards, in written and electronic form.
  • Organizes community health education outreach and consultation, develops workshops and seminars, trains and coordinates programs, and acts as a consultant to other agencies.
  • May perform Quality Improvement activities such as chart audits and compliance reviews.
  • Performs related duties as required and may participate in duties listed in the class specification.
Qualifications and

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) for:
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) OR
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) OR
  • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
  • AND
  • Two (2) years of verifiable experience as an LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC.

One (1) year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (based on a 40-hour work week).
