We are currently seeking a highly organized Medical Assistant Supervisor to join our team at the San Francisco office.
Base pay range$82,000.00/yr – $/yr
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform all duties of a Medical Assistant and act as direct manager to Medical Assistant staff.
- Serve as liaison between management and staff, evaluating, coaching, and guiding staff performance while providing indirect and direct patient care within scope.
- Work closely with the Director and clinic management team to maintain patient flow that supports productivity standards and goals.
- Create standardized workflows for Medical Assistant work to streamline patient experience and improve efficiency.
- Communicate with appropriate personnel to examine, revise, and evaluate clinic processes to promote efficiency.
- Provide supervisory oversight for clinic medical support staff, including performance reviews, coaching and counseling, staff development, shift schedules, managing PTO requests, sick calls, and procedural changes.
- Partner with the Director on monthly staff meeting topics.
- Responsible for onboarding education and annual education of Medical Assistants.
- Demonstrate a positive public‑relations image with team, peers, patients, and visitors by presenting a helpful attitude.
- Follow up on inaccuracies made by medical assistants in the electronic medical record.
- Work with Medical Assistant staff to set goals and manage quality metrics.
- Maintain and supervise Medical Assistant support staff.
- Recruit and onboard new Medical Assistants as needed, matching staff to service lines.
- Serve as the first point of contact for clinical staff regarding questions, escalations, and problem‑solving.
- Develop and maintain staffing schedules and ensure proper coverage based on provider needs and patient volume.
- Ensure all clinical rooms, equipment, and supplies are maintained and stocked according to clinic and safety standards.
- Coordinate initial credentialing, reverification, and privileging for all physicians and physician assistants.
- Prepare and submit applications to health plans, hospitals, and regulatory agencies.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date credentialing files and documentation.
- Track licensure, DEA registrations, malpractice coverage, and certifications to ensure timely renewals.
- Track immunizations for all physicians, physician assistants, and staff.
- Store all sensitive provider information securely and handle it in compliance with HIPAA and applicable privacy and security regulations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all credentialing‑related inquiries, audits, and verifications.
- Follow all HIPAA standards, policies, and procedures.
- High School diploma or equivalent required;
Bachelor’s degree preferred. - Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant (MA) or similar program (LPN, RN, EMT).
- Minimum 3 years of Medical Assistant experience.
- Current health clearances and immunization records required for all healthcare professionals.
- Maintain certifications per state guidelines.
Work is performed in a clinic and office setting. Ability to type accurately, write, and use general office equipment is required. Extensive telephone communication is required.
