Overview
Job Summary
Limited appointment, expected to end 1 year from hire date. The position will be involved in research under the supervision of Dr. Robert Warren, the principal investigator of the Surgical Oncology Research Lab. The incumbent will conduct research related to the growth of organoids as models for studying targeted therapeutics against gastrointestinal system cancers in humans performed by others in the Warren Lab.
Location and terms
The position will be remote. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on work experience and internal equity within this position classification positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $34.48 - $74.04 (Hourly Rate).
ResponsibilitiesKey responsibilities include:
- Maintain the database for our large tissue bank, which comprises primary and metastatic liver tumors; search the electronic medical records of patients who contributed tumor and non-tumorous tissue to clinical/translational studies (APEX).
- Correlate molecular analyses of patient tumors, organoids, and patient-derived xenografts with clinical outcomes using varying endpoints and apply appropriate statistical analyses.
- Present data at lab meetings, assist in manuscript preparation, and modify fields within the tissue/tumor database as new molecular analyses are developed.
- Familiarity with File Maker Pro is a plus; experience using APEX is important; prior knowledge of tissue storage components and methods in the Tumor Bank is preferred.
Required
- Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Minimum of 1 year of related experience.
- Experience using APEX.
- Prior knowledge of the components and methods of tissue storage in the Tumor Bank.
Preferred
- Working skills in analysis and consultation.
- Working knowledge of research function.
- Working skills in statistical analysis, systems programming, database design and data security measures.
- Skills to communicate complex information clearly in writing and verbally.
