Clinical Research Coordinator (Cantonese)

Neuro‑Memory and Aging Department | Full Time | Job  

Job Summary

In the UCSF Memory and Aging Center, the ALBA Language Neurobiology laboratory and the Tee Lab collaborate on research that examines how language is organized into brain networks, the impact of neurological conditions on language, and the neural mechanisms of bilingualism and dementia syndromes. This joint position supports and coordinates clinical studies of participants with language difficulties enrolled within the UCSF Memory and Aging Center and provides training for advancement to next‑level roles.

The incumbent will coordinate one or more trials; help prepare protocols, design flow sheets and data forms, apply inclusion/exclusion criteria, recruit, enroll, register, schedule and retain study subjects; record protocol‑specific treatments; assist with sample collection and shipment; keep patients on study schedules; complete study forms for sponsors; enter and clean data; assist with data analysis; prepare reports and tables; attend team meetings;

and perform other duties as assigned.

Salary

Hourly rate: $34.32 – $55.19 (subject to UC policy approvals).

See earlier overview of ALBA and Tee Lab; the joint position leverages cross‑linguistic perspectives and promotes culturally and linguistically appropriate cognitive assessment tests.

Required Qualifications
  • High‑school graduation and sufficient experience to perform duties, or equivalent.
  • Native Cantonese speaker (expressive, receptive, reading and writing) and English;
    Mandarin preferred. Bilingual and bicultural candidate required to reach out to Asian populations in the Bay Area.
  • Attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication, ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment, and ability to work independently and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least one year of recent directly related experience, or equivalent.
  • Bilingual (Mandarin‑English) Medical Interpreter certification.
  • Experience working with patients or study subjects.
  • Experience performing community outreach with Asian populations.
  • Fluency in CHR iMEDris system for protocol submission, renewal, and modification.
  • Understanding of patient rapport and realistic participation expectations.
  • Preparation of reports, PowerPoint presentations, and data compilation for meetings.
  • Experience with electronic medical records.
  • Knowledge of UCSF policies for reimbursement, research guidelines, HIPAA, patient safety, confidentiality, medical terminology, data management (Access, Stata, SPSS, Teleform).
  • Experience with REDCap, Qualtrics, or other research software for data management and entry.
  • Knowledge of basic clinical research techniques and methods (screening, consenting, privacy practices, CITI certification).
  • Knowledge of IRB procedures and regulations: GCP, HIPAA, CHR, Effective Cash Handling Procedures, EHS, Fire Safety.
