Job Summary
The Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG) is an internationally recognized leader in HIV clinical care, research and education. The Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) will work independently to assist Principal Investigators, project directors, and Senior Clinical Research Coordinators with implementing study protocols, coordinating study activities, collecting data/specimens, managing data, and ensuring quality assurance.

The incumbent will recruit, screen, enroll, and follow study participants, and liaise with health care providers, collaborators, and administrative staff for the PASC‑RECOVER project (Post‑Acute Sequelae of SARS‑CoV‑2 Infection – Researching COVID to Enhance Recovery).

NOTE
:
This is a limited position, ending 5 months from the start date, with the potential for continuation based on department budget. The salary range is $37.12 – $40.98 per hour. Benefits and total compensation information can be found at UCSF Compensation & Benefits.

Required Qualifications
  • HS graduation and sufficient experience and demonstrated skills to successfully perform the assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Certified phlebotomy experience or equivalent certification to perform phlebotomy.
  • Attention to detail; strong interpersonal skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment while working with a diverse subject population.
  • Ability to work independently, complete projects on time, and prioritize multiple projects to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledgeable in phlebotomy issues, including performing phlebotomy, working knowledge of tubes and procedures required for blood draw of clinical laboratory tests, and sample processing for T‑cell assays, flow cytometry, and other research assays; basic laboratory techniques (safe handling practices, preparing and labeling samples and reagents for studies, proper use, storage, and disposal of reagents).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with translational research trials, statistics and/or data management; knowledge of clinical research practices and longitudinal cohort studies.
  • Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse groups.
  • Two years’ experience in a clinical, community health setting and/or research setting.
  • Comfortable interviewing subjects on sensitive issues including high risk sexual practices and illegal drug use.
  • Knowledge of UCSF and departmental policies for reimbursement, research guidelines, confidentiality and HIPAA regulations, and patient safety (both electronic and hard‑copy records).
  • Thorough knowledge of antiretroviral medications and related treatments.
  • Certified Safe Shipper – IATA certification.
  • Database building and analysis experience with Access, Stata, SAS/SPSS, and Teleform programming platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Access, Outlook, Word) and strong internet skills.
  • Experience with electronic medical records.
  • Fluency in Spanish medical terminology (conversational).
  • Must be able to carry boxes and supplies weighing 20–30 pounds and handle shipping of specimens.
  • Experience with committee online systems for protocol submission and renewal.
  • Understanding of patient rapport building and realistic participation expectations.
  • Experience with the following regulations and guidelines:

    • The Protection of Human Research Subjects
    • CHR regulations for recruitment and consent of research subjects
    • Effective Cash Handling Procedures
    • Environmental Health and Safety Training

License / Certification
  • California Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 (CPT‑1) or equivalent license to perform phlebotomy in California.
