Job Summary

The shift for this position is 7am-7:30pm, 12hr days, weekends, rotating, variable. The incumbent is responsible for assessing 24-hour nursing staff based upon information gathered from a variety of sources. The role assures staffing resources and nursing unit needs are appropriately matched on a weekly, daily and shift-by-shift basis. The incumbent records, processes and maintains scheduling and staffing information for the Department of Nursing in the Medical Center.

Responsibilities
  • Assess 24-hour nursing staff using information from multiple sources.
  • Ensure staffing resources match nursing unit needs on a weekly, daily and shift basis.
  • Record, process and maintain scheduling and staffing information for the Department of Nursing.
  • Collaborate with staffing coordinators at Parnassus and Mission Bay.
  • Required Qualifications
    • Two years of hospital experience.
    • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
    • Excellent computer skills.
    • Basic understanding of medical terminology.
    • Knowledge and understanding of medical specialties.
    • Good communication skills, written and oral.
    • Good interpersonal skills.
    • Good critical thinking skills.
    • Ability to work and orient at all UCSF locations.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • College graduate.
