Position: Radiologic Tech Lead and Mammo - 40 hours

Radiologic Tech Lead and Mammo – 40 hours

Under the direction of the Imaging Services Director and Chief of Diagnostic Imaging, performs radiographic diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries. Operates radiographic equipment to produce recorded images and performs technological functions to ensure optimal diagnostic quality using safe processes.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Perform specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures.
  • Exhibit a high degree of tact, courtesy, and poise, explaining procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.
  • Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified body areas requested by physicians.
  • Determine exposure factors based on height, weight, body portion, and required penetration level.
  • Move imaging equipment into specified position.
  • Adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.
  • Operate mobile radiologic equipment in operating rooms, emergency rooms, or at patients' bedside.
  • Assist radiologists and qualified physicians with valid CA DHS RHB Supervisor Operator Permit for fluoroscopy in fluoroscopic and special X‑ray examinations.
  • Prepare images for reading by radiologists or requesting physicians.
  • Process images and review for proper identification and quality control.
  • Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging repairs as needed.
  • Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff; complete forms and maintain records, logs, and reports of work performed.
  • Orient new hires and train students.
  • Fill in as necessary in the absence of the Supervising Radiology Technologist.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:

    This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications Experience

Minimum five (5) years of experience.

Education

High School Diploma or GED.

License, Certification, Registration
  • Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California)
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist – Venipuncture Certificate (California)
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist – Fluoroscopy Certificate (California)
  • Basic Life Support
Additional Requirements
  • California Venipuncture Certificate;
    California Mammography Certificate, when required.
  • Specialty Leads must have specialty ARRT and one year experience in that specialty.
  • Ability to perform all general diagnostic and routine fluoroscopic duties on patients of all ages.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
  • Must be willing to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment.
  • Refer to Position Specifications outlined in the appropriate collective bargaining agreement.
  • Radiologic Technologist Career Ladder Agreement:
    Level requires CA fluoroscopy permit, CA venipuncture certification, five years experience and an ARRT (R). Specialty Leads must have Specialty ARRT and meet all Specialty requirements. Existing Lead Radiologic Technologists without ARRT certification will be grandfathered to this level in General Diagnostic Radiology and Specialties.
  • Therapists without Venipuncture Certification will not be required to obtain it for modalities where it is not performed, unless necessary for promotion or transfer.
  • Employer will provide educational opportunities to pass California permit test upon request.
