Overview
Position:
Speech-Language Pathologist (Limited Appointment) working with the Memory and Aging Center s is a 4-month limited appointment assisting the Principal Investigator in clinical research on communication impairments across the life course, including observational and language treatment studies.
- Support studies by performing research evaluations using non-standardized and standardized speech-language assessment tools.
- Report test scores and results into databases and ensure data quality and integrity.
- Report evaluation results to interdisciplinary team members and contribute to participant classification into international diagnostic research criteria.
- Administer standardized intervention protocols for speech-language treatment trials.
- Rate and evaluate audiovisual recordings of speech and language samples and evaluations.
- Contribute to maintenance of research databases and data streams.
- Report study progress to the research team; provide direct contributions to programming studies to meet experiment-specific needs.
- Master s degree in speech pathology, certificate of clinical competence in speech pathology awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and two years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of neuroanatomy.
- Experience working with children with communication difficulties and adults with Primary Progressive Aphasia.
- Demonstrated proficiency with medical terminology.
- Ability to abstract data from medical records and transfer it to data collection forms or directly into databases.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Salary placement within the range depends on work experience and internal equity within this position classification positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the collective bargaining agreement. Salary range: $53.20 - $71.79 (Hourly Rate).

About UCSFThe Memory and Aging Center (MAC) is a clinical research unit within the UCSF Department of Neurology that investigates neurological, cognitive, behavioral, and neuroanatomic characteristics of neurodegenerative diseases. PI research focuses on decision-making processes in patients with frontotemporal dementia, Alzheimer s Disease, primary progressive aphasia, and other neurodegenerative disorders.
