Sr. Collections Representative

Job Summary

This position works at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and UCSF. The Senior Collections Representative coordinates with CPG billing of SFGH, helps with claim submission, accounts receivable, working denial, patient billing inquiries, correspondence, payment allocation, treatment planning, and process improvement to ensure compliant and thorough collections of professional fees performed in the dental center. While individuals may have different focuses, all are expected to perform all activities as requested to meet business needs.

Full‑time position located at Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG). Pay range: $31.80 – $45.62 per hour (uncertain on others). Salary is subject to UC policy approval. Benefits information can be found at UCSF’s compensation and benefits page.

• At least one year of previous insurance follow‑up experience.
• High school diploma or GED and five years of experience, including two years in collections investigation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to meet productivity and quality standards.
• Positive attitude and excellent customer service skills.
• Proven ability to coach and mentor staff for optimal results.
• Ability to set priorities, goals, and objectives.
• Proficiency in performing all aspects of billing and follow‑up with superior quality.
• Excellent attendance record.

• Prior working knowledge of the EPIC (Apex) system, especially PB or HB insurance follow‑up modules.
• Experience in a medical office environment (strongly preferred).
• Knowledge of UC Peoplesoft.
• Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
• Certified Procedure Coding (CPC) or Certified Dental Coding (CDC).
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.
