Job Summary

The Bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist provides a full range of speech and language services to children in grades K-12, including screening and assessment in English and Spanish (as needed), individual and group therapy, and consultation with school teams. As a member of the IEP team, the SLP-bilingual helps determine student eligibility for services, appropriate programming, and ongoing progress.

Essential Functions
  • Provide direct, individual or small group instruction to identified pupils as required in the IEP
  • Collaborate with other personnel working with Special Education students
  • Screen, assess (in English and Spanish as needed), and provide speech and language services to students who qualify for services per State standards
  • Conduct parent interviews with Spanish-speaking parents in their native language
  • Develop IEPs for students who qualify for Special Education under the Primary Eligibility of Speech and Language
  • Participate in developing and implementing Individual Educational Plans for students who qualify for Related Services
  • Communicate directly with parents as needed, including in Spanish if relevant
  • Provide direct, individual and/or small group instruction on a regularly scheduled basis as required in the IEP
  • Regularly collaborate with team members, parents, and related service providers to review student data, ensure IEP implementation, and co-plan/co-teach
  • Participate in developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs for Related Services per California educational codes
  • Screen, assess, and provide services aligned with Common Core and English Language Development standards
  • Create and maintain records, files, and reports as required by federal, state, and SELPA regulations
  • Maintain knowledge of current regulations pertaining to special education and meet IDEA requirements related to case management
  • Maintain a high level of rigor for students with disabilities to ensure equitable access to standards by developing instructional materials and strategies for SPED students in the general education setting
  • Implement health and mobility supports (1:1 in classroom, health-related needs under supervision of the school nurse, and assist with mobility) and assist with physical needs as needed
  • Input weekly IEP service tracking and meet all IEP timelines
  • Create and maintain notifications, records, files, and reports as required by regulations
  • Develop a progress monitoring tool for students, regularly shared with staff and parents for team decision-making
  • Communicate frequently with parents about student progress and collaborate to gain input
  • Collaborate with outside providers as needed and appropriate with parent consent
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree
  • Valid California Speech-Language Pathology School Services credential or California Clinical or Rehabilitative Services credential with an authorization in Language, Speech and Hearing
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence
  • 1+ year experience working with students with special needs in an educational setting
Physical Requirements
  • Move between positions and environments as needed
  • Remain stationary for periods and/or stand or sit for extended times
  • Move to various worksites as required
  • Assess accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work
  • Communicate with others to exchange information
  • Repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and fingers
Work Authorization
  • Clear the Department of Justice background screening
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Provide health (TB) clearance (renewed every four years)
