This position is within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Professional Responsibility, Investigative Operations Division, located in San Francisco, California;

- The Supervisory Criminal Investigator is responsible for the administration, management, and oversight of investigative activities and special operations assigned to a field office or area of responsibility.
- This position starts at a salary of $ (GS-14, Step
1) to $ (GS-14, Step 10). - Typical work responsibilities include: performing the full range of supervisory responsibilities, serving as a direct liaison and the focal point for agency personnel engaged in conducting criminal investigations, identifying agency resource needs and coordinating jurisdictional issues with other law enforcement agencies, ensuring the workforce effectively identifies elements of proof, develops investigative plans and strategies, identifies and collects evidence and prepares witness and subject interviews, communicating performance requirements and evaluating work performance, supervising planning and implementation of significant criminal investigation strategies and providing technical consultation on complex and controversial matters.

Selectees must sign a mobility agreement upon acceptance. Relocation to another duty location may be required during employment. - Motor Vehicle Operation:
Ability to operate a Government Owned Vehicle and a valid, non-restricted driver's license is required. - Relocation expenses will be paid per Federal Travel Regulation limits and agency policy.
Qualifications
You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, including duties such as:
- Conducting criminal and/or administrative investigations on employees and/or associated individuals suspected of misconduct, corruption, extortion and other violations affecting national security.
- Leading investigations involving jurisdictional overlap with other law enforcement agencies, directing operations, assigning tasks, and monitoring task completion.
- Preparing detailed reports of investigations and briefings to agency management, U.S. Attorney's Office and/or local District Attorney's Office; drafting and executing search and arrest warrants, subpoenas, electronic surveillance orders and affidavits.
- Mentoring and assisting in the professional development of less experienced or newly hired agents requiring developmental or technical assistance.
- Representing the agency in meetings, conferences, and briefings; liaising with mission partners to further investigative goals and maintain relationships.
