Our Global Intelligence service equips funders and the climate community with climate insights to pinpoint opportunities for impact and philanthropic insights to help identify investment priorities. We facilitate Global Collaborations that enable funders to increase individual and collective impact. Our Global Grantmaking services enable funders to invest in climate solutions around the world.

The Finance Associate will report to the Associate Director of Finance. The Finance Associate is a key member of the Finance & Grants team within the larger Finance & Facilities Department  department is responsible for all finance and accounting functions, effective grantmaking, and facilities management, and collaborates routinely with all teams and departments at Climate Works.

The Finance Associate works on the Finance & Grants team, supporting and contributing to maintaining Climate Works’ strong financial position. He/she/they work in a dynamic environment requiring detail-oriented, independent, and professional work. He/she/they will coordinate closely with others on the Finance & Grants Team, contributing to the team’s grantmaking process reviewing grantees’ financial position and reviewing financial reports.

The Finance Associate will be responsible for the following and other duties as assigned:

• Reviewing grantee financial documents (including financial statements and organizational budgets) to ensure that grantees are financially healthy, flagging any concerns to the Senior Director, Finance.
• Verifying completeness of grantee financial reporting and coordinating with grantees and the Grants Team on incomplete reports. Flagging any concerns to the Senior Director, Finance.
• Contributing to an effective grantmaking forecast and monitoring spenddown on ending funding sources.
• Assisting with quarterly collection and analysis of time estimates.
• Working with the team to ensure accuracy of information in Climate Works’ budget and reporting system, Adaptive.
• Aiding in the development and improvement of team systems, including Adaptive and the new Grants Management System, and team processes.
• Providing ad-hoc financial analysis, as needed.
• Contributing to the work and priorities of the Finance & Grants Team, as needed.
