Our client is a mission-driven food events and hospitality company based in San Francisco, known for creating large-scale community dining experiences and culinary partnerships.

They are seeking a permanent Controller to lead accounting operations and financial management during a critical period of execution and growth. This role will serve as a key partner to senior leadership, bringing rigor, structure, and visibility to the financial function while supporting a dynamic, event-driven business model.

The role is hybrid, requiring the ability to work onsite in San Francisco two days per week.

• Lead all daily accounting operations—including the general ledger, month‑end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting—with a strong emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and strengthening the close calendar.
• Own and optimize the month‑end close process, with a mandate to streamline workflows, shorten close timelines, and fully leverage Net Suite functionality to improve efficiency, reporting integrity, and automation.
• Provide hands‑on leadership to accounting team members, fostering development, accountability, and operational excellence.
• Oversee preparation, review, and delivery of financial statements and management reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP, offering insights and actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
• Manage cash flow, short‑term forecasting, and liquidity planning across multiple event‑based and catering business units.
• Strengthen internal controls, vendor management, and accounting workflows while enhancing the use of ERP, reporting tools, and financial systems.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with operations, events, culinary, and executive leadership to ensure alignment between financial results and business objectives.
• Serve as a stabilizing force during a period of organizational transition, ensuring continuity of processes, documentation of workflows, and effective knowledge transfer.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
• 10–12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership at the Controller or Assistant Controller level.
• Extensive Net Suite experience is required, including hands‑on use, optimization, reporting, and the ability to drive improved utilization of system capabilities.
• Experience working in a start-up or smaller business with revenues under $100M.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and operational accounting best practices.
• Advanced proficiency with ERP systems, financial reporting tools, and Excel, with a track record of identifying and implementing process improvements.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
