Job Description
The Tax Director, Transfer Pricing is instrumental in supporting Principals and the broader national TP practice through significant contributions to team development, commercial goals, and enrichment of specialty practices such as GVC, Intercompany Finance, and M&A. The role will drive practice goals in partnership with Principals and Managing Directors, demonstrating high standards of team development, client‑centricity, project management, and technical thought leadership.
Candidates will manage and grow their own portfolio of clients with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
• Transfer Pricing Consulting and Compliance Services
- Develop, recommend, and implement appropriate transfer‑pricing methods (by transaction type) and client‑specific solutions.
- Apply transfer‑pricing regulations and identify transaction‑specific issues while analyzing client business and financial data.
- Determine and propose efficient strategies to achieve transfer‑pricing compliance within the client’s risk profile.
- Manage the holistic transfer‑pricing ecosystem (planning, compliance, operational, defense) across client relationships and services.
• Client Engagement
- Ensure clients are aware of and compliant with local transfer‑pricing requirements within the context of their overall operations.
- Manage team and engagement economics to meet project metrics, including setup and billing.
- Develop, implement, and monitor quality‑control and risk‑management processes on all engagements.
• Tax Controversy
- Advise and represent clients on contested issues with tax authorities, responding to information requests and notices.
- Utilize understanding of broader tax ramifications of transfer‑pricing policies to analyze, document, and defend positions.
• Tax Provisions
- Employ general principles in tax accounting and understand the context of transfer‑pricing in tax provisions.
- Prepare and review tax provisions related to transfer‑pricing.
- Partner with Assurance professionals to plan tax accrual reviews related to transfer‑pricing.
• Research and Analytics
- Complete financial and economic analysis related to intercompany transactions, evaluating client data to assess and document appropriate intercompany pricing policies.
- Identify the nature, depth, and breadth of research required and frame issues to be researched, including tax‑research comparability.
• Business Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnel, identifying new business opportunities that support client objectives.
- Demonstrate executive presence and serve as the primary contact for all transfer‑pricing engagements.
- Identify cross‑selling opportunities for other consulting specialties, including Assurance, Tax, and Advisory services.
• Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise day‑to‑day workload of TP Managers and Associates on assigned engagements, reviewing and taking responsibility for final work product.
- Ensure TP Managers and Associates are trained in transfer‑pricing principles and relevant databases.
- Evaluate performance of TP Managers and Associates and deliver timely feedback.
- Serve as a career advisor to TP Managers and Associates, supporting professional development goals.
Education & Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor’s degree required; focus in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Economics preferred.
• Advanced Degree:
Advanced degree in Economics, Business, Law, or Finance preferred.
•
Experience:
Nine (9) or more years of prior transfer‑pricing experience required; experience within a transfer‑pricing advisory practice preferred.
• License/
Certifications:
MBA, CPA, CFA, JD, or EA certification preferred.
• Software:
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); familiarity with Access, Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI, or similar data analytics applications preferred; prior exposure to Go Systems, tax and economic‑research databases, or other tax‑related software preferred.
