Apple Pie Capital is seeking an experienced Commercial Loan Special Assets Officer to join the team. This role reports to our Head of Loan Servicing. We are looking for a motivated team player who is passionate about working with borrowers and reducing loan delinquencies. You will need to excel at monitoring existing account performance and managing small business borrowers through difficult circumstances.

The candidate will need to be a self‑motivated problem solver and thrive in a fast‑paced environment where they will work with a strong existing team of Servicing and Underwriting professionals. Primary responsibility is to manage the review and disposition of existing delinquencies/modification requests and manage relationships with existing loan purchasers related to delinquencies, modification requests and borrower monitoring commitments.

Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Provide support to purchasers of loans in servicing to reduce delinquency and restructure loans
  • Lead loan purchaser meetings that demonstrate knowledge of distressed loans and provide workout recommendations
  • Evaluate risk and analyze account information including financial statements and the overall borrower relationship
  • Coordinate and negotiate with trustees or attorneys in order to negotiate and finalize workout solutions
  • Research the root cause of delinquent loans and develop action plans to resolve problem loans
  • Monitor portfolio for policy compliance and adhere to risk rating; identify opportunities for process improvements within scope of responsibilities in Loan Workout area
  • Present strategic recommendations for resolving complex workout situations and exercise independent judgment while developing expertise in the functions, policies, procedures and compliance requirements
  • Provide issue‑specific training and participate in departmental projects
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Commercial Loan Workout/Collections experience
  • Commercial banking experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of construction and cash flow based financing for leased space businesses
  • Ability to interpret and comprehend complex legal documents
  • Strong attention to detail, including accuracy in grammar and a sharp focus on eliminating errors
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage a pipeline of work from assignment to drive completion
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience interacting positively with difficult or frustrated business owners
  • Experience resolving and working through escalated and complex customer issues
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong organizational, multi‑tasking, and prioritizing skills
