Senior Accountant

Our client, a mission-driven financial services organization with a national presence, is seeking a Senior Accountant to support critical financial operations and reporting functions. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a team dedicated to driving impact through finance, while gaining exposure to complex compliance and accounting processes. This is a hybrid role, with flexibility to work out of offices in major metropolitan areas including San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, or Washington, DC.

Employees are expected to work onsite two days per week.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post monthly journal entries, including interest expense, lease transactions, and fixed investment activity
• Reconcile key financial accounts and ensure compliance with GAAP standards
• Support audit processes by preparing documentation, footnotes, and compliance reports
• Prepare and submit regulatory filings and lender compliance reports
• Provide treasury support through system optimization, interest tracking, and payment processing
• Assist in strategic financial analysis and board reporting initiatives

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3–5 years of accounting experience including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting
• Strong knowledge of GAAP; experience with nonprofit or CDFI organizations preferred
• Proficiency in accounting systems (MIP preferred), Excel, and treasury tools (e.g., Coupa)

Compensation:
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: $100K - $115K per year.

The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
