About Our ClientOur client is a leading food events and hospitality company based in San Francisco, known for creating large-scale community dining experiences and culinary partnerships.
Position OverviewWe’re seeking an Interim Controller to lead accounting operations and financial management during a period of transition and growth. This role requires onsite presence in San Francisco three days per week and carries conversion potential; accordingly, candidates must be willing to transition into a full‑time permanent role.
Responsibilities- Lead all daily accounting operations—including the general ledger, month‑end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting—with a strong emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and strengthening the close calendar.
- Own and optimize the month‑end close process, with a mandate to streamline workflows, shorten close timelines, and fully leverage Net Suite functionality to improve efficiency, reporting integrity, and automation.
- Provide hands‑on leadership to accounting team members, fostering development, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Oversee preparation, review, and delivery of financial statements and management reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP, offering insights and actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
- Manage cash flow, short‑term forecasting, and liquidity planning across multiple event‑based and catering business units.
- Strengthen internal controls, vendor management, and accounting workflows while enhancing the use of ERP, reporting tools, and financial systems.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with operations, events, culinary, and executive leadership to ensure alignment between financial results and business objectives.
- Serve as a stabilizing force during a period of organizational transition, ensuring continuity of processes, documentation of workflows, and effective knowledge transfer.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
- 10–12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership at the Controller or Assistant Controller level.
- Extensive Net Suite experience is required, including hands‑on use, optimization, reporting, and the ability to drive improved utilization of system capabilities.
- Demonstrated success leading and accelerating monthly close processes, improving workflow efficiency, and strengthening financial controls.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and operational accounting best practices.
- Advanced proficiency with ERP systems, financial reporting tools, and Excel, with a track record of identifying and implementing process improvements.
