Assistant Chief Engineer

Pay Range: $83.14 /hr

San Francisco, CA

This is a union Local 39 position and includes union benefits.

• Assist in managing daily operations of all critical systems (electrical, HVAC, UPS, generators, CRAC/CRAH units, sequence of operations, controls)
• Proficient in writing, reviewing MOPs and EOPs
• Supervise and support engineering team members
• Perform and oversee preventative maintenance and repairs
• Respond to emergency situations and critical system alarms
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies
• Support vendor management and contractor oversight
• Maintain accurate logs, reports, and documentation
• Assist with budgeting and operational planning

• 5+ years of experience in data center or critical facility operations
• Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems
• Experience with UPS systems, generators, switch gear, cooling systems, plumbing
• Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Ability to work flexible hours, including on-call rotation
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
