We are looking for an Engineering Lab Manager to serve as the architect and guardian of our technical laboratories. You will oversee multiple Hardware laboratory spaces, including Materials, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. This role is a blend of infrastructure development, hands‑on technical execution, and hardware team support.

What You’ll Do 1. Lab Strategy & Infrastructure
  • Lab Management: Manage the day‑to‑day operations of the hardware lab, including equipment maintenance, calibration, and inventory management.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the lab budget, ensuring cost‑effectiveness.
  • Resource Allocation: Coordinate lab resources and equipment to support multiple engineering projects.
  • Safety & Compliance: ensuring all equipment and hazardous materials meet local and international regulatory standards
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of lab equipment, procedures, and calibrations.
2. Technical Execution & R&D Support
  • Testing & DOEs: Design well thought out Design of Experiments (DOEs) to characterize new materials, test hardware designs and validate manufacturing processes.
  • Fixture & Tooling Design: Support development of custom test fixtures, through CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Equipment: Oversee the installation, use and preventative maintenance/ calibration of critical laboratory hardware (e.g., Instron machines, thermal chambers, CT scanner).
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance lab efficiency and productivity.
3. Leadership & Collaboration
  • Cross‑Functional Partnerships: Support information sharing between Product Design, Materials Science, Quality and Reliability teams and help define testing requirements for emerging product roadmaps.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with electrical, mechanical and materials engineers to support their hardware testing needs.
  • Training: Provide training to engineering staff on the proper use of lab equipment.
We would love to have you on our team, if you have:
  • Education: B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
  • Experience: 5+ years in a hardware lab environment, with at least 3 years in a management or technical lead capacity.
  • Skills: Ability to run experiments, collect data, analyze results, and translate insights into design or process improvements.
  • Competent in Solid Works, NXFusion 360, or similar for fixture design and 3D printing.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical test and measurement equipment (e.g., force column testers, microscopy, thermal chambers , etc.).
  • Systems Thinking: Experience implementing or managing inventory and workflow systems (Jira, LIMS, or custom databases).
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices for laboratory environments.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across disciplines. Experience collaborating with automation, equipment vendors, and global manufacturing partners.
