Embedded Software Engineer, Software Engineer
The human brain is the most powerful system on Earth, yet we still interact with computers using our fingers — and for millions with motor impairments, even that isn't an option. AXION is building the bridge between human intent and machine action, starting with the people who need it most.
Our first product, AXION Click, lets people control an iPad using nothing but their eyes and brainwaves. We discovered and patented Stimulus Preceding Negativity (SPN) - a unique neural signal that detects the intent to click non‑invasively. Combined with eye‑tracking, SPN enables effortless and seamless interactions with computers.
Why build AXION Click?- Work on technology that changes lives. Your users aren't power users optimizing a workflow, they're people regaining independence. You'll see the impact of your work firsthand.
- Push the frontier of neuroscience. You'll work at the intersection of neuroscience, hardware, and AI on problems that don't have textbook answers.
- So you don't have to tell people you work on B2B SaaS. Brain‑computer interfaces are one of the most important technologies of this century. We're the team proving you don't need surgery to get there.
We are creating the foundation for the next era of human‑computer interaction. We are a team of passionate researchers and engineers developing technology that doesn't just solve today's accessibility challenges but transforms how everyone interacts with digital devices.
About the roleAs Axion's Founding Electrical Engineer, you will own the electrical stack. You'll design custom electronics, manage manufacturing relationships, and take our products from prototype to production.
What You’ll Do- Design and develop custom electronics for neural interfaces, including analog front‑ends, power management, embedded systems and computer‑vision.
- Own PCB design from schematic capture through layout, working with manufacturers to bring designs to life.
- Write embedded firmware for microcontroller and SOC systems including wireless communication, and real‑time signal processing.
- Able to engage with component suppliers, contract manufacturers, and testing facilities.
- Experience with hardware design from prototyping to manufacturing phases.
- Collaborate closely with our software teams to interface with hardware and systems.
- Troubleshoot and iterate rapidly based on user testing and field performance.
- 5+ years of hands‑on electrical engineering experience, ideally including taking products to market
- Experience with biopotential sensing (EEG, EMG, ECG) or other biosignal acquisition systems
- Strong PCB design skills with specialization in low‑noise analog design and experience with embedded systems.
- Proficiency in embedded systems programming (C/C++) and embedded Linux development.
- Experience with wireless communication protocols (BLE, WiFi, etc).
- Background in wearable device design, including power optimization and form factor constraints
- Knowledge of battery management systems and low‑power design techniques
- Care about the end user.
- Thrive with ambiguity.
- Know how to 80/20 effectively.
- Love pushing technical boundaries.
- Enjoy working hard and moving quickly
- Want to build something great and be recognized for it.
- Compensation Range: $150K – $200K
- Equity: 1% – 2%
