In coordination with Campus Planning and Capital Programs (CP), the Director, Facilities Projects oversees the development and prioritization of Deferred Maintenance and Facility Renewal, including Tenant Improvement and Supplemental Environmental Projects (SEP), and Infrastructure Capital Improvement plans. The role continuously improves new construction and renovation design criteria and guidelines, incorporating lessons learned from Facilities Services operational staff. A key responsibility is to drive long‑term capital asset management strategy by aligning and leveraging Facilities Investments Needs, renewal, Integrated Capital Asset Management Program (ICAMP), and other resources across Facilities Services.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Facilities, or related area and/or equivalent experience in architecture, engineering, urban design, city planning, or landscape architecture.
• Minimum three to five years of supervisory experience in a complex organization.
• Excellent leadership skills to lead, direct, and manage personnel, including selection, training, evaluation, and corrective action.
• Experience developing campus renewal programs, advocating for funding, allocating scarce resources, and using renewal models and national and university best practices.
• Solid experience with construction contracts, Facilities equipment procurement, and vendor/contractor negotiations.
• Thorough knowledge of planning, design, construction, environmental issues, legal and regulatory requirements, and federal, state, and local laws.
• Advanced financial, budgeting, and cost management skills.
• Strong mentorship abilities and advanced knowledge of industry best practices.
• Advanced computer application skills relevant to facilities renovation work.
• Sound judgment and problem‑resolution ability demonstrated by past records of solving facilities related challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree preferred.
• License to practice in at least one of the following professions: architecture, engineering, urban design, city planning, or landscape architecture.
• California valid driver license.
• Certificate to practice in at least one of the following professions: architecture, engineering, urban design, city planning, or landscape architecture.
•
Certifications:
APPA CEFP, IFMA CFM/FMP, BOMI RPA/FMA.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering and/or architectural design and concepts.
