OpportunityWSP is currently initiating a search for an enthusiastic and motivated Early Career Civil Engineer. The position is open to the following offices:
San Jose-CA, San Francisco-CA, Los Angeles-CA, and Roseville-CA
. As a local technical assistance provider, you will help design, develop, and construct infrastructure projects and systems in the public and private sector.
- Under general supervision, assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, etc.
- Assist with performing basic professional civil engineering work such as research, inspections, and determination of conformance with applicable rules.
- Perform routine engineering functions and provide entry‑level technical assistance on design requirements.
- Assist with verifying site characteristics and provide basic technical assistance on engineering issues.
- Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems, drawings, and field notebooks.
- Comply with safety guidelines and site‑specific procedures.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct in accordance with WSP’s Code of Conduct.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- 0 to 1 year of relevant post‑education experience.
- Excellent research skills with an analytical mindset.
- Familiarity with the design and built environment processes.
- Knowledge of civil construction laws, codes, regulations, and compliance practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Self‑leadership with attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision and as part of a team.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, and related tools.
- Proven commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules that may extend beyond a typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Engineer in Training Certification or ongoing pursuit.
- Familiarity with discipline‑specific design software (Micro Station, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, etc.).
- Internship experience related to the engineering discipline.
- Active participation in local professional or student practice organizations.

CompensationExpected Salary: $58,200 – $96,030.
