OverviewA stealth robotics startup founded by world‑class UAS engineers is seeking a Lead Robotics Engineer to drive the technical direction of its robotics and autonomy stack. This is a senior, hands‑on role with significant influence over architecture, system design, and engineering standards.
Responsibilities- Own and evolve the architecture of core robotics and autonomy systems
- Lead development of performance‑critical software in C++ and/or Rust
- Drive design decisions around real‑time performance, safety, and concurrency
- Mentor and technically guide mid and senior robotics engineers
- Lead system integration, testing, and real‑world deployment efforts
- Partner closely with founders on technical roadmap and long‑term system design
- Establish best practices for building reliable, production‑grade robotics software
- Strong academic background from a top‑tier university (BS, MS, or PhD in Robotics, CS, EE, ME, or related field)
- 7+ years of professional experience building and deploying robotics systems
- Expert‑level proficiency in C++ and/or Rust
- Demonstrated ownership of complex systems from concept through deployment
- Proven ability to lead technically while remaining hands‑on
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship (Green Card or U.S. Citizenship required)
- UAS experience (preferred but not required)
- Experience mentoring or leading engineers in a robotics environment
- Background in early‑stage startups or small, high‑impact teams
- Experience with safety‑critical or field‑deployed autonomous systems
