Structure Representative – Full‑Time Position

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full‑Time Structures Representative for our Antioch, California office. The role involves providing technical leadership for complex construction management projects, supervising construction engineering and inspection activities, and ensuring that contractor work meets structural quality standards. The position can be located within the San Francisco Bay Area, greater Sacramento area, or the Central Valley.

This is NOT a Structural Design Engineer role. A Structures Representative is a local agency employee (or a consultant hired by a local agency) who performs quality assurance over the contractor’s work that involves structures and who performs the contract’s necessary structure‑related administrative tasks.

Your Impact
  • Review and inspect plans and calculations for falsework, shoring, staging, bridge removal, and other technical submissions on City, County, Caltrans, and other State projects.
  • Respond to and effectively resolve field construction issues.
  • Conduct meetings between contractor, owner, utilities, and other project parties.
  • Inspect, document, and coordinate field tests of construction materials.
  • Analyze construction costs of changed conditions, draft change orders, and recommend claims dispositions.
  • Prepare constructability reviews and reports.
  • Assume responsibility for field engineering, contract administration, inspection, testing, surveying, and quality control on one large or several small construction projects.
  • Supervise field inspection and field office personnel.
  • Represent projects at meetings and conferences.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Required Qualifications
  • BSCE or related degree.
  • Current California PE license.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience, 5 of which are as a Structures Representative.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and materials.
  • Valid CA driver’s license.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Compensation

Expected Salary: $167,800 – $249,150. WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
