About Atomic Semi

Atomic Semi is building a small, fast semiconductor fab.

It’s already possible to build this with today’s technology and a few simplifications. We’ll build the tools ourselves so we can quickly iterate and improve.

We’re building a small team of exceptional, hands‑on engineers to make this happen. Mechanical, electrical, hardware, computer, and process. We’ll own the stack from atoms to architecture. Our team is optimistic about the future and we want to continue pushing the limits of technology.

Smaller is better. Faster is better. Building it ourselves is better.

We believe our team and lab can build anything. We’ve set up 3D printers, a wide array of microscopes, e‑beam writers, general fabrication equipment - and whatever is missing, we’ll just invent along the way.

Atomic was founded by Sam Zeloof and Jim Keller. Sam is best known for making chips in his garage, and Jim has been a leader in the semiconductor industry for the past 40 years.

About the team

At Atomic Semi we are building a small, fast semiconductor fab. We build the tools ourselves and are building our own machine shop centers to assemble them ourselves. The manufacturing and production team is taking on the rare opportunity to drive production of parts and semiconductor equipment from the early stages within an innovative company that will have a direct impact on making chips faster than any company in the world.

We are seeking assembly technicians to join our team and help with this effort.

About the role

The Assembly Technician is responsible for component‑level and full‑tool builds according to bill of materials (BOM) and documentation. You’ll support hands‑on tasks such as building prototypes, conducting testing on components and tools, and working closely with engineers on cutting‑edge semiconductor hardware.

Responsibilities
  • Perform component‑level and full‑tool builds according to documentation
  • Generate reports and documentation
  • Provide lessons learned and appropriate edits to documentation
  • Help with hands‑on tasks within the production team (ex. operating laser cutter, building prototypes)
Required Experience
  • 2+ years of professional experience working hands‑on with mechanical assemblies
  • Professional experience with electronics assembly: schematics, wiring, connectors, crimping, soldering, and PCB
  • Professional experience reading mechanical instructions and/or drawings
Nice‑to‑have
  • 2+ years of professional experience working with tools such as multimeters, crimpers, and torque wrenches
  • Professional experience with high‑voltage, pressure, or gas lines
  • Fabrication experience
  • Familiarity with ERP or inventory systems
