Jacobs is searching for a dynamic Operator I to join our teamымкәа in El Segundo, CA
. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the day‑to‑day operations of the Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility, its satellite facilities, and the influent pump station, wastewater/water treatment plant equipment, pump stations and related work as required. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that compliance and production targets are met under the direct guidance of the Shift Leads and the Operations Supervisor, and with general guidance from the Chief Plant Operator.
Pay Range
$59,600 / yr – $95,300 / yr
Principal Areas of Responsibility- Knowledge of wastewater treatment and/or water treatment, engineering, principles and methods of scientific research, current advances in the field of water reclamation and groundwater replenishment, computer hardware and software applications for the operation of an advanced water reclamation facility, general administrative principles and practices, and methods of supervision.
- Operate the facilities and the equipment to achieve compliance and production targets, in the most efficient way possible.
- Execute process control orders provided by technical staff and with the approval of the Chief Plant Operator.
- Responsible for general housekeeping of job sites, work areas and other areas as assigned.
- Collect samples for compliance and process control.
- Coordinate the release of bothered equipment to Maintenance or contractors for repair.
- Ensure that equipment is returned at the end of the day and available to the night shift, unless approved by plant graphically.
- Ensure that the plants are run to meet compliance and refinery requirements.
- Oversee plant security and report suspicious activities.
- Report equipment and process issues to superiors as close to the event as possible after securing immediate hazards. Enter work orders as directed.
- Routinely monitor and assess the treatment processes operating parameters including their manual and automated control functions and validate or supervise necessary adjustments ensuring the treatment processes operate in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Provide support and guidance in capital projects, Research & Development, and various plant improvement projects.
- Receive chemical deliveries throughout the day.
- Perform unit process rounds for monitoring and compliance.
- Clean the MF and Reverse Osmosis units.
- Other duties as assigned.
- One (1) to Four (4) years’ experience in wastewater/water treatment operations.
- Ability to meet risk management guidelines is required.
- Shift Operator I basic or introductory level knowledge is required.
- Knowledge of collection system operations and maintenance practices.
- Knowledge of and ability to utilize the materials, methods servidor, tools and equipment used in the construction, maintenance and operation of wastewater treatment systems.
- Knowledge of laws and regulations related to wastewater system operations.
- Knowledge and ability to analyze data and maintain computer records.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform standard laboratory sampling and testing.
- Available for stand‑by duty and emergencies as required.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals and/or SOPs.
- Ability to apply mathematical operations to tasks such as chemical dosing, flow calculations, pipe or tank capacity.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and factual variables.
- Must have and maintain a valid CA Driver’s License with no major infractions.
