Responsibilities- Designing electrical systems for water and wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities
- Preparing contract documents for plans, specifications, and cost estimates for projects
- Electrical systems include low‑ and medium‑voltage power distribution, lighting, emergency power systems, UPS, and batteries
- Applying knowledge of commonly used electrical engineering and design concepts, principles, best practices, codes, and guidelines related to electrical engineering industry
- Engaging several different assignments simultaneously
- Developing basis of design report, One‑Line Diagrams, Motor Control Diagrams, Panel Schedules, Conduit Routing, Load Calculations, and Voltage Drop Calculations and coordinate with the Electric Utility Company for new services as needed
- Utilizing lighting software to perform calculations and provide photometrics
- Performing power system studies for electrical systems including load flow, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash and competent in equipment sizing, grounding, and relay coordination
- Engaging in quality control and quality assurance of electrical engineering plans, specifications, and estimates in the water market
- Performing field visits and conducting site investigations for public and private clients
- Providing services during construction including submittal reviews, response to Contractor’s request for information, review and approval of change orders, and preparation of record drawings
- Helping with pursuits and proposals
- Collaborating with multi‑discipline teams across multiple office locations
- Mentoring junior staff
- Ability to work and thrive in a team environment
- Strong problem‑solving skills
- Ability to self‑motivate and work productively without supervision
- All other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Registered California Professional Electrical Engineer (PE) with ability to reciprocate as needed
- Minimum of 15 years of experience related to water industry in electrical engineering role
- Working knowledge of Word and Excel
- Working knowledge of AGi
32 or Visual Lighting Software - Working knowledge of SKM or ETAP
- Experience working with Permitting review agencies
- Strong time management skills
- Strong understanding of NEC and NFPA 820
- Familiarity with IEEE color book series
- Strong analytical, conceptual, problem‑solving and organizational skills
- Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and management
- Ability to work and thrive in a team environment
- Ability to self‑motivate and work independently with minimal supervision
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Experience in designing and delivering municipal water and wastewater treatment projects via different delivery methods (design‑bid‑build, design‑build, or other alternatives)
- Knowledge of Bluebeam Revu
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Microstation
- Knowledge of Revit MEP
- Knowledge of Title 24 compliance for electrical distribution and lighting
- Field investigative and startup experience
