Amazon’s North America Operations Engineering team builds, launches, and improves the next generation of sortation and distribution automation solutions across the continent. As an Operations Engineer, you will own end‑to‑end lifecycle projects that span design, integration, testing, and ramp‑up of material handling systems, ensuring on‑time delivery and high‑quality performance.
Key Responsibilities- Lead cross‑functional project teams to deliver systems and automation solutions, driving schedules, budgets, and risk mitigation.
- Partner with internal customers and external vendors to set project priorities, establish milestones, and ensure timely handover of deliverables.
- Design, install, and qualify equipment and system operations, performing throughput, safety, and performance testing to verify design intent.
- Document decisions and outcomes in project artifacts, maintaining clear communication with stakeholders and leadership.
- Identify and drive process improvement initiatives that optimize engineering and cross‑team efficiencies.
You will manage one or multiple projects ranging in scope, complexity, and duration. Daily tasks include site coordination, progress review, and resolution of project barriers. You will facilitate project meetings, capture notes, and drive ownership of decisions. You will perform system installation and qualification testing, communicating progress to internal and external stakeholders. You will support and train other engineers using Amazon’s safety, mechanical, electrical, and controls installation standards.
Travel& Location
Approximately 75% regional travel is required. Candidates must be willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance of a corporate office. Relocation assistance may be provided.

- Bachelor’s degree in industrial, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering.
- 4+ years of experience as an industrial, operations, manufacturing, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with material handling equipment (MHE) and automated material handling systems.
- Knowledge of auto‑CAD, VBA, and SQL at an intermediate level.
- Experience managing third‑party vendors and leading vendor engagements.
- Experience with Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, or similar continuous improvement frameworks.
- Master’s degree in engineering, management, or technology.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and MS Project.
