Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Consultant – Life Cycle Assessment & Decarbonization to sit in our Chicago, IL, Seattle, WA, Acton, MA, Costa Mesa, CA, San Diego, CA, San Francisco, CA, Denver, CO, or any other U.S. based offices to join as a leader and mutually benefit from the momentum of our growing Life Cycle Assessment and Decarbonization Practice.
The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial attitude, enthusiasm and a track record for supporting business development and technical efforts to help expand Geosyntec’s presence and capability in this market. This position requires a command of LCA technical challenges to advise C-suite executives, advisors, and regulatory experts on product, operational and supply chain decisions that affect low carbon certifications, claims and incentives, as well as new strategies and novel technology development.

Responsibilities
• Serve as a subject matter expert on the development, implementation, and execution of life cycle assessment (LCA) strategies, approaches, models, and methodologies for regulatory applications (e.g., LCFS and US EPA RFS carbon intensity and pathways), international and voluntary frameworks, and environmental product declarations (EPD).
• Expert knowledge and application of the Argonne National Laboratory GREET model and state-specific versions, as well as experience with other commercial LCA software (e.g., Sima Pro, open
LCA, GaBi).
• Understand technical client needs and provide sustainable solutions that are practical and consider the costs and benefits of carbon management and GHG strategies and options.
• Engage in business development, project management and technical lead roles for LCA and carbon quantification projects related to incentive and regulatory programs.
• Maintain high visibility in the marketplace through regular client contact, participation in client-based professional organizations, and attendance and presentations at industry events.
• Act as a senior technical consultant and strategist providing expertise and leadership in project management, regulatory subject matter expertise, or senior QA/QC reviews on climate change-related projects.
• Develop ISOcompliant LCA models and study reports; guide LCAs through external third-party critical review processes.
• Perform related technical analyses, including techno-economic assessments, tangent climate and carbon-related project assessments, sustainability program support, data management and methodologies, and QA/QC.
• Communicate actionable information to clients through reports, presentations, and workshops.
• Manage projects and staff, including providing technical leadership and oversight, risk management, and mentoring; work closely with staff in other offices.
• Assist in recruiting and training additional staff; and serve in a leadership role for the company culture and values across the organization.
• Training:
Provide professional development opportunities through technical conferences, in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring to build technical and business skills.
• Fieldwork:
Approximately 5% of time.
• Overnight travel:
Typically, approximately 10%.
• Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or project sites as needed.
