Senior/Staff Electronics Engineer (Field Failure Analysis & Investigations )

Our mission at Oura is to empower every person to own their inner potential. Our award-winning products help our global community gain a deeper knowledge of their readiness, activity, and sleep quality by using their Oura Ring and its connected app.

We are looking for two highly skilled and experienced Senior/Staff Electronics Engineers to lead the in-depth investigations and field failure analysis of electronic systems and components. This is a key technical role, responsible for pinpointing the root cause of failures, leading teardowns, and implementing corrective actions to mitigate future issues.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in failure analysis of electrical systems, electronics testing methods, and circuit design. As a senior team member, you will also provide technical leadership and collaborate cross-functionally to drive effective solutions that enhance product reliability and improve the customer experience.

What you will do
  • Field Failure Analysis & Investigations:
Lead detailed failure analysis and teardowns of low-power electronics at the system and component level.
  • Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) Ownership:
Take full ownership of the CAPA process for electronics failures, from initial investigation through to verification of the implemented fix.
  • Risk Assessment:
Evaluate the risk of new components or design changes based on field failure data, providing clear, data-backed recommendations to the hardware team to prevent future issues.
  • Technical Reporting and Communication:
Prepare and present detailed technical reports and summaries of failure investigations to a wide range of audiences.
  • Component Management:
Evaluate and select alternative components (2nd sources), ensuring availability and cost-effectiveness without compromising quality.
  • Production Testing & Optimization:
Review and improve production test coverage for electronics.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, firmware, manufacturing, and quality engineers to drive effective solutions and improvements.
  • Vendor & Partner Management:
Work with suppliers, manufacturing partners, and technology providers to deliver the desired quality of components and services.
Requirements

We would love to have you on our team if you have:

  • Experience:

Minimum of 7+ years of experience in electronics design and verification, with at least 3-5 years in a senior engineering role, including project leadership.
  • Education:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Technical Expertise:
Deep expertise in troubleshooting electrical systems and failure analysis including analog and digital circuit design, Bluetooth, wireless power transfer, high-speed interfaces, power management, and embedded systems.
  • Hands-on experience with building and validating prototypes, using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Leadership:
Proven ability to interact within engineering teams and deliver complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to work effectively across internal teams and external partners.
What we offer
