ABOUT UPWARD BOUND
Upward Bound is a year-round, pre-college TRIO Program funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The program targets students who are from low-income families and/or are the first generation in their families to attend college. The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the rate at which participants complete high school and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education.

POSITION SUMMARY
The High School Educational Advisor will be responsible for the identification, selection and advising of participants at one to two high schools in the San Francisco Unified School District. These participants will meet the eligibility criteria set by the U.S. Department of Education for all UB Projects.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Direct Service and Outreach (60%):
- Identify, recruit, and manage a caseload of high school participants according to the Federal TRIO income and first-generation eligibility guidelines
- Assess students' educational needs and guide them in setting and achieving academic goals
- Design and deliver small- and large-group presentations on college access, financial aid, and career pathways to promote secondary school completion and enrollment in postsecondary programs
- Support participants with applications for admission or re-enrollment to secondary and postsecondary institutions
- Support college matriculation by coordinating with admissions, financial aid offices, and campus resource centers
- Refer participants to appropriate school-based and external support services as needed
- Assist in planning and facilitating weekend and overnight events, including Saturday College Academy workshops and SoCal College Tour
- Support high school counseling staff and collaborate on events aligned with JCYC UB program objectives
- Collaborate with UB sister programs, SF Cal-SOAP and Educational Talent Search, to co-host events (e.g., Cash for College, Middle School Career Days)
- Collect and maintain required program documentation for an annual caseload of high school students
- Monitor student progress and complete monthly caseload reports
- Assist with the implementation and evaluation of UB program activities
- Participate in agency and College Access Department meetings, trainings, committees, and activities as required
- Engage in agency advocacy initiatives
- Support agency and UB efforts to promote youth civic engagement
