For more than 75 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Leandro (BGCSL) has proudly served as the leading provider of youth services in San Leandro and surrounding communities. When school is out, Clubs are in! BGCSL offers a wide range of programs for youth ages 4 to 18, including after-school programs, school break day camps, summer camps, and more. We provide supportive spaces where our youth can learn, grow, and thrive. BGCSL serves more than 5,000 youth across 25 Clubs, including 24 school-based Clubs in San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Hayward, and Union City, and our dedicated Teen Clubhouse.

Position DetailsEssential Functions
- Engaged Supervision – Maintain constant supervision and create a secure, nurturing environment where young children feel safe, comfortable, and supported.
- Facilitate Engaging Activities – Lead interactive, play-based learning experiences that encourage language development, sensory exploration, motor skills, and social-emotional growth.
- Adapt and Implement Lessons – Deliver developmentally appropriate activities that build early literacy, math concepts, problem-solving, and self-regulation, adapting to individual needs.
- Create a Positive Learning Environment – Establish predictable routines, model positive behavior, and use proactive strategies to guide social skills, emotional expression, and conflict resolution.
- Build Positive Relationships – Foster trust and attachment through warmth, encouragement, and individualized attention.
- Manage Daily Operations – Oversee transitions, snack time, rest periods, toileting, and play with a structured yet flexible routine.
- Collaborate with Your Team – Work with colleagues to share observations, adjust strategies, and maintain a cohesive, developmentally supportive environment.

Required
- No prior experience required—entry-level with hands-on training provided.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing transitions, playtime, and structured learning with flexibility and patience.
- High emotional intelligence and integrity, with understanding of early social-emotional development.
- Ability to connect authentically with young children, building trust through warmth and consistent engagement.
- Extreme patience and calmness under pressure, supporting children through big emotions, conflicts, or new experiences.
Preferred
- Multi-conversational language skills (Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Tagalog).
- Education, coursework, or experience in Early Childhood Development, Education, or related fields preferred.
Position will primarily be at a school-based site within BGCSL. Occasional flexibility may be needed for organizational events or deadlines. Key aspects:
