Job Title: Teacher

Organization: Kai Ming, Inc., a non‑profit 501(c)(3) providing free early care and education services in San Francisco, funded by Head Start, the California Department of Education, First 5 San Francisco and the San Francisco Office of Early Care & Education.

• Provide supervision, guidance, and training to Assistant Teachers, Teacher Aides, Center Aides, and Parent Volunteers.
• Write clear documentation for each child and maintain records in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.
• Implement culturally relevant curriculum and developmental activities for literacy, language, numeracy, critical thinking, and creativity.
• Conduct developmental screenings and prepare reports within required deadlines.
• Prepare individualized education plans and adapt environment and curriculum for children with disabilities.
• Ensure health, nutrition, safety, diversity, and cultural awareness are integrated into classroom activities.
• Maintain an organized, safe, and age‑appropriate learning environment.
• Conduct smooth transitions and promote acceptance and respect of gender, culture, language, ethnicity, and family composition.
• Provide outdoor curriculum and supervise children outdoors.
• Facilitate social and emotional growth: encourage independence, self‑esteem, emotions regulation, cooperation, respect, and positive routines.
• Conduct home visits, parent‑teacher conferences, and maintain reliable communication with families.
• Participate in case conferences, center meetings, CCDC Consultation Meetings, and staff development trainings.
• Maintain attendance, meal counts, parent participation records and report inappropriate behavior.
• Complete additional duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field and a California Child Development Site Supervisor Permit.
• At least two (2) years of classroom teaching experience with preschool‑aged children.
• Strong initiative, ability to accept direction and seek guidance.
• Commitment to health, safety, and supervision standards.

• Annual physical exam and TB clearance.
• Criminal background clearance.
• Child Abuse Index clearance.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Adherence to confidentiality and child abuse reporting mandates.
• Ability to change positions, pick up children (up to 50 lb); light to moderate lifting required.
• Compliance with Kai Ming Code of Conduct and internal policies.
• Accountability for health, safety, and supervision of children and families.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination record or weekly negative test result.
