Bay teachers are expected to attend their classes, tutorial periods, staffulty and collaborative course team meetings, applicable orientations, and professional development days.
Agreement TermJuly 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027.
Start DateJuly 1, 2026; on-campus work begins August 6, 2026.

Job DescriptionThe Bay School Science program employs a pedagogical approach that incorporates inquiry-based practice and real-world applications. The school values student experimental design, data‑driven argumentation, and designing curricula that empower all students to see themselves as scientists. A science teacher with a strong commitment to innovative curricular and experimental design, progressive pedagogy, and social justice is sought.
Science Program OverviewCore courses: physics first in ninth grade, followed by tenth‑grade chemistry and eleventh‑grade biology. Advanced courses and electives include evolutionary biology, astronomy, quantum mechanics, fire ecology, chemistry of cooking, and California geology.
Teaching Responsibilities- Collaboratively design curriculum and align curriculum with course teams, department goals, and school mission.
- Design skills‑based formative and summative assessments.
- Grade student work and provide feedback in a timely manner.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, guardians, and advisors regarding student progress.
- Hold one‑on‑one student meetings as needed.
- Schedule and attend course team meetings.
- Attend weekly staffulty or department meetings on Tuesday afternoons.
- Serve as advisor to a group of 8‑10 students.
- Meet with the advisory group once per week for 25 minutes.
- Attend and chaperone additional grade‑level events and special events.
- Participate in grade‑level orientation before the first day of class.
- Serve as primary point person with the school for parents and guardians.
- Attend Morning Meeting three days a week.
- Monitor a “Flex” block (study hall) one block per week each semester.
- Hold tutorial at the end of the school day three days a week.
- Model community engagement by being present throughout the school day and serving on committees.
- Attend Back to School Night in September.
- Support the admissions program by attending a limited number of admissions events.
