Enrichment Specialist – Chinese Tutor

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Site Coordinator, the Chinese Tutor is responsible for leading focused academic tutoring sessions and enrichment activities for youth in YMCA After School Programs. The goal is to foster Chinese language acquisition and confidence by developing and implementing lesson plans tailored to support and supplement school-wide efforts.

  August 18, 2025 – June 13, 2026

• Plan and implement engaging, age‑appropriate lesson plans for elementary school–aged youth (K‑5th) to strengthen language skills and confidence.
• Provide individualized and group tutoring support to meet diverse learning needs and promote academic growth.
• Design and facilitate math‑focused enrichment activities that encourage critical thinking, problem‑solving, and a positive attitude toward learning.
• Create an inclusive and supportive environment that fosters participation and self‑confidence in mathematics.
• Incorporate Youth Development Principles into activities to support students’ social, emotional, and academic development.
• Follow YMCA policies and safety guidelines during all tutoring sessions and activities.
• Maintain an organized and clean learning space to ensure a productive environment.
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to improve teaching practices.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor to support program goals.

The Chinese Tutor will work in an active after‑school program environment, which may include classroom, outdoor, and recreational spaces.

• Must successfully complete a background screening, including criminal and employment verification. Some positions may also require a credit check.

The Chinese Tutor position offers a compensation range of $20.00 – $40.00 per hour.
