Job SummaryThe Power Scholars Academy (PSA) is a summer program designed to prevent learning loss and provide academic support for K‑8 students in San Francisco and San Mateo County. Participants receive daily math and literacy instruction for three hours a day, four days a week. As Instructional Coach, you will support classroom teachers and assistants in enhancing instruction, increasing student engagement, and improving academic outcomes.
Responsibilities include teaching or substituting for a cohort when necessary, overseeing assessments, guiding teachers in using data to personalize instruction, and leading teacher training.
Program runs from June 8th to July 24th, 2026, with specific dates varying by district site. Training begins in Spring 2026 and will include sessions tailored to the program and individual training needs.
Job Responsibilities- Deliver pre‑service and ongoing professional development for instructional staff.
- Lead training sessions on PSA’s philosophy, curriculum methods, assessment practices, and behavior management strategies.
- Identify staff development needs and provide tailored coaching and professional development.
- Observe classrooms, providing actionable feedback to ensure adherence to curriculum standards and best practices.
- Comply with PSA and/or district professional development requirements.
- Collaborate with PSA leadership and YGSF Talent Acquisition teams on recruiting and hiring staff.
- Monitor scholar progress and recommend adjustments to instructional practices as needed.
- Oversee pre‑ and post‑assessments, ensuring at least 80% scholar participation and using data to guide instruction and groupings.
- Teach a cohort when necessary, ensuring high‑quality, differentiated instruction.
- Collaborate with the Site Leadership Team to maintain a safe and productive program environment.
PSA Instructional Coaches work in dynamic classroom settings that may include both indoor and outdoor spaces, engaging in activities that require moderate physical activity, such as standing, walking, and interacting with students. The role requires the ability to adapt to a fast‑paced environment, maintain a positive and engaging demeanor, and meet the physical demands of teaching and supervision, including handling classroom materials and technology.
