Under the general supervision of a Speech and Language Pathologist or Program Specialist, the Speech and Language Pathology Assistant will perform services and consultation with teachers at a school site, provide activities designed to develop language skills and articulation skills, including speech production, vocalization and social pragmatics in students with speech/language disorders. Other duties may include administrative work, meetings, and collaborations with staff and parents.
Responsibilities- Conduct speech-language screenings using a variety of screening tools and techniques
- Follow documented therapy plans
- Support the SLP with contacting families to arrange IEP meetings
- Document student progress in IEP system
- Prepare therapy materials for use in pullout small group or classroom settings
- Adapt or modify instructional materials as determined by student need and abilities for teacher-use in the classroom
- Consult with general ed teachers to co-plan instructional materials or implement strategies
- Track performance data using progress monitoring tools and report progress on IEP goals
- Assist with IEP progress monitoring under the supervision of the SLP
- Create and maintain a safe, positive environment for students
- Collaborate with members of IEP Team, Special Education team and School site teams
- Demonstrate knowledge of and support Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, values, standards, policies and procedures, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned
