Family Medicine Primary Care Physician

Full Time.

Location:

77022 , San Francisco, CA, San Mateo, CA. This Full Time Family Medicine Physician will provide primary medical care to patients of all ages at a UCSF Primary Care practice. Primary responsibilities include full time patient care, panel management, documentation, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, communication with staff, colleagues, patients, and families, and teaching. Clinical productivity standards are expected after a generous ramp up period.

Duties

Patient Care
  • Provide primary medical care to patients for acute and chronic problems and preventative health needs, engaging in team-based primary care delivery and working within a team-let to provide care that is accessible, coordinated and comprehensive.
  • Communicate and collaborate with consultants, ancillary care providers, and other members of the medical care team to optimize care coordination for patients in the primary care panel.
  • Communicate and consult with the inpatient hospital team for primary care patients admitted in rare events, providing prompt, medically appropriate transition care after discharge from the emergency room or inpatient setting.
  • Provide after‑hours phone advice coverage as a member of the pool.
  • Complete medical records on all patient encounters in a timely fashion consistent with Primary Care Services policies.
  • Work eight (8) half‑day (four‑hour) clinical sessions per week at the assigned clinic; an additional 20% of time (two four‑hour sessions) is allocated for administrative time to manage the patient panel and after‑hour coverage.
    • MSP physicians may work either seven (7) or eight (8) half‑day sessions per week at the assigned clinic upon request.
    • Exceptions are discussed for extenuating circumstances.
    Administrative
  • Abide by UCSF Health medical staff and Primary Care Services policies.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement leadership.
  • Engage in robust citizenship and support of the practice.
  • Teaching
    • Participate in medical student teaching, practice teaching, and other learning activities that benefit patients, colleagues, and professional development.
    • Faculty physicians are expected to offer a minimum of 50 hours of teaching to medical school learners concurrent with clinic duties.
    • MSP/staff physicians are expected to offer a maximum of 50 hours of teaching concurrent with clinic duties.
    Other
  • In collaboration with faculty members of DFCM/DGIM, and with approval of the Practice Medical Director, physicians may conduct research or other creative work.
  • Participate in department, school, medical center, university, and community activities as appropriate.
  • Compensation & Benefits

    The first year compensation is a combination of a Regular Pay and Non‑Base Pay salary of $279,000 plus a Clinical Incentive awarded as a guarantee at the 6‑month mark, bringing the total salary range for the first year to $309,700–$313,400 depending on successful board certification.

    Required Qualifications
    • Completed accredited family medicine residency program.
    • Board certified or eligible in Family Medicine.
    • Valid California medical license.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Ability to document encounters accurately and timely.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Interest and commitment to teaching and previous practice experience.
    • Fluency in two or more languages.
    • Proficiency in clinical practice, communication, case management, problem identification and resolution, leadership, and teaching.
    License / Certification
    • California Medical License.
    • Board Certified / Eligible in Family Medicine.
