JOB TITLE: Experiential Designer
LOCATION: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid)
PAY RANGE: $69 - $79/hr
DURATION: 6 months with a high possibility of extension
Key Skills- 8+ years of consumer-facing experiential design experience with strong creative, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to manage complex, high-visibility projects independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere), CAD, rendering tools, and MS Office Suite, with experience in immersive technologies, VR/AR, live events production, and retail environmental design.
- Deep understanding of the tech and entertainment industries (B2B and B2C), strong storytelling and presentation skills, strategic thinking, and passion for creating engaging, immersive experiences.
The Experiential Designer will be integral to the Global Experiential Marketing team, focusing on leading the creative development and environmental execution for key Dolby events, co-branded activations, Client demo experiences, retail initiatives, and the Dolby Swag program. This role demands close collaboration with cross-functional teams to create immersive experiences that engage varied B2B and B2C audiences and highlight the impact on entertainment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead 2D, digital, and environmental creative development for in-person experiences.
- Collaborate with event managers and stakeholders to develop innovative solutions.
- Manage internal and external design resources and ensure projects adhere to timelines.
- Stay updated on experiential design and technology trends to inform new ideas.
- Travel up to 30% for project needs.
- Experience with immersive technologies, virtual reality, and/or augmented/extended reality.
- Experience with live events production and retail environmental design.
- Understanding of the Consumer Entertainment market and the industry landscape.
- Passion for entertainment and entertainment technology.
- Belief in the mission to enable better entertainment for all.
- Bachelor's degree in design, art, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in consumer-facing experiential design.
- Strong creative, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage complex, high-visibility projects independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Adobe tools (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, CAD, rendering tools) and MS Office Suite.
- Outstanding storytelling and presentation skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to engage in high-level discussions.
- Supervision: Dual reporting structure to the Creative Director and Global Head of Experiential Marketing.
- Supporting Team: Includes 2 graphic designers, a copywriter, and a team of experiential events managers and technical experts.
- Collaboration: Close collaboration with creative and technical teams, with travel primarily within California and occasional trips to locations such as Las Vegas and New York.
- Translate 2D designs into immersive 3D spaces for various events, including trade shows and consumer electronics showcases.
- Design physical spaces for demos featuring cutting-edge technologies, collaborating with partners like Best Buy to create engaging, experiential environments within retail spaces.
- Projects may vary from large-scale national events to smaller regional showcases.
- Support the team in establishing and documenting Experiential Design best practices for global rollout.
- Experience: Senior-level proficiency with demonstrated ability to lead projects and elevate design concepts.
- Technical
Skills:
Proficiency in software tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, and rendering tools, as well as familiarity with CAD software. - Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the tech industry, including both B2B and B2C contexts; comfort in communicating with tech professionals.
- Travel: Up to 30%, most likely for events in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and possibly New York.
