Position: Musical Theatre Specialist - Summer Camp 2026

General Description

Summer Camp at the JCCSF offers one‑week to three‑week sessions in both traditional day camp and specialty camp settings for campers in grades K‑8. Musical Theater Camp is held from June 1 to August 21. Typical day camps feature arts & crafts, STEAM projects, and sports, while specialty camps include visual arts, nature exploration, musical theater, science, and more.

Job Details

Salary: $28.00 – $29.00 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Organize and implement a Musical Theater curriculum that includes singing, dance choreography, set design, and acting.
  • Prepare and deliver three weeks of musical theater programming for grades 1‑4 (Alice in Wonderland and Mary Poppins) and grades 5‑8 (Newsies).
  • Create and manage supply lists, curriculum materials, and daily design lessons.
  • Provide an interactive, age‑appropriate curriculum and support general counselors when needed.
  • Assist with camper drop‑off, pickup, and room set‑up, and maintain daily cleanup.
  • Communicate effectively with camp families to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ensure daily safety checks of supplies and tools.
  • Model positive behavior and enforce consistent limits and behavioral expectations.
  • Support team collaboration and perform additional duties as directed.
Requirements
  • At least one year of educator experience.
  • Ability to design and facilitate age‑appropriate activities for elementary and middle school campers.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Passion for film‑making projects, informal education, and youth programs.
  • Knowledge of summer camps preferred.
  • Team player who can work independently and improvise as needed.
Working Conditions

Will work with youth ages 6‑14. Performance rehearsals and shows occur in the stage hall.

Physical Requirements

Position requires seated or standing use of a computer throughout the day.

Status

Non‑benefited, non‑exempt position.

Hours
  • Up to 10 hours per week of prep time from 5/1/2026 to 5/31/2026.
  • 37.5 hours from 6/1/2026 to 8/21/2026.
Schedule

8:15am – 4:15pm, Monday – Friday starting 6/1/2026 to 8/21/2026.
