ABOUTTHE ROLE
Van Acker Construction builds exceptional, high-end custom homes with a commitment to quality craftsmanship, meticulous detail, and outstanding client service. Our Service & Small Project Division provides ongoing maintenance, repair, and renovation services to our clients’ completed homes and estate properties.
We’re looking for a skilled Estate Maintenance / Service Foreman to join our small, dedicated team of experienced field professionals. In this role, you’ll be the trusted person our clients rely on when a mechanical system needs attention, a fixture needs replacing, or a bathroom is ready for a refresh. You’ll handle everything from straightforward repairs to small remodel projects in some of the Bay Area’s finest homes.
Our clients are discerning homeowners who expect white-glove service. Their homes are typically owner-occupied, so discretion, confidentiality, and a polished professional presence are essential. You may work directly with the homeowner or their estate manager, individually on smaller tasks or as part of a team on larger projects. Either way, you’ll represent Van Acker with the care and professionalism our reputation is built on.
JOBDUTIES
- Perform hands‑on maintenance and repairs in completed high‑end homes—carpentry, painting, drywall, fixture replacement, and general upkeep
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with sophisticated residential systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, automated gates, smart home technology, and integrated AV systems
- Manage small remodel and renovation projects from start to finish, including scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating subcontractors
- Oversee multiple concurrent service calls and small projects across the Bay Area, primarily in San Francisco, the Peninsula, and occasionally Marin
- Proactively identify and resolve field issues, work interferences, and scheduling conflicts before they become problems
- Communicate clearly and professionally with homeowners, estate managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors
- Conduct progress assessments, prepare reports, and assist with budget tracking, material coordination, and time management
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment in clients’ homes at all times
- Minimum 10 years of hands‑on construction experience with a track record of performing increasingly complex carpentry, MEP, and general construction work, ideally in high‑end residential and estate settings
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field (or equivalent in years of experience)
- Broad construction knowledge with an understanding of the sophisticated mechanical, electrical, and technology systems found in luxury homes
- Skilled at reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and structural drawings
- Highly organized with experience using industry‑standard scheduling tools, Excel, Microsoft Office, etc.
- Excellent communicator who is comfortable interacting with high‑net‑worth clients, estate managers, owner’s representatives, and subcontractors
- Professional appearance and demeanor with a genuine, service‑oriented mindset
- Proactive problem‑solver with a forward‑thinking approach—you anticipate needs and plan accordingly
- Discreet and trustworthy—you understand the importance of confidentiality when working in private residences
- Leadership skills to inspire and coordinate team members and subcontractors while keeping projects on track
- Able to meet the physical demands of the job: lifting up to 30 lbs, climbing, working on uneven surfaces, and extended use of hand and power tools
- Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Must live in the Bay Area and be authorized to work in the U.S.
Base salary is $130,000 - $140,000 per year (DOE), plus annual discretionary bonus. Please note the posted range is a base and will be adjusted for skillset and experience.
