Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant AGENCY OVERVIEW

The Center for Children and Youth (CCY) program offers specialized services for children, expert parenting guidance, and youth initiatives including mental health support. We also advocate for public policy changes to benefit young people, working with policymakers, schools, parents, youth, community coalitions, and advocacy groups to develop and advance solutions.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Early Childhood Mental Health (ECMH) Program Director the Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant participates in specialized training and provides consultation to childcare centers, caregivers of young children, and early childhood educators. This program is part of an innovative grant‑funded project to enhance services for low‑income children birth to five years old and their families.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • Salary Range: $80,000-$90,000 (depending on experience)
  • Employment Type:

    full‑time, exempt position with benefits (Part‑time schedule available)
  • Employer 403(b) retirement match plus additional employer contribution (subject to eligibility)

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides consultation to early learning settings that serve infants and toddlers, ensuring that early childhood educators have the skills to identify behavioral health risks and concerns in the classroom
  • Facilitates families in accessing services
  • Meets regularly with childcare staff and families both individually and in groups to discuss children about whom they have questions or concerns;
    Meets regularly with staff and parents/families to assess and understand the individual needs of the child and work with all parties to develop appropriate strategies to address the concerns
  • Develops and conducts workshops/trainings for staff/parents as indicated
  • Met with families to partner with them to complete assessments, provide developmental guidance and make referrals, including linkage to clinical services
  • Actively assists families in the referral process including collaboration with outside agencies
  • Assist childcare centers’ leadership in addressing programmatic concerns i.e. vicarious trauma, staff turnover, and curriculum
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have a current license or be license‑eligible (MSW, MFT, PsyD, PhD)
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience supporting young children’s social and emotional development
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience in group care settings for children
  • Knowledge of early development, trauma, attachment, and child development
  • Knowledge of word processing software, email, and electronic health record systems for maintaining case records and communication with staff
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance
  • Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID‑19 vaccination by the date of hire, unless a medical or religious exemption is requested and approved
